During a jovial dinner the former owners of two wineries started to compare their wines. With no clear winer this exceptional blend of 50% Sangiovese from Capannelle and 50% Merlot from Avignonesi was conceived and quickly gained international renown.

Named after the original founders of the estate, the Avignonesi family, the winery has undergone an exciting change in recent years. Acquired by Virginie Saverys in 2009, Avignonesi has become a leader in biodynamic viticulture in Italy, crafting organic wines that are truly authentic to their origins yet singular and unique.
